The Jewelry Maker

Rutgers University English major Lauren Dorey runs Golden Godess Gems, a small jewelry business that specializes in wire-wrapped crystals that purport to have spiritual healing properties. Dorey began her business through her Instagram account, @goldengoddessgems, where she posts pictures of each handmade piece, and also accepts custom orders.

She sells rings, necklaces and earrings. Each piece features a unique crystal.

When she’s not making jewelry, Dorey is either belly dancing, writing or playing her guitar.

Takeaway:

Interviewing Lauren and seeing her workspace gave me a behind-the-scenes look at the experiences of a student entrepreneur. Her story shows that students can start their own small businesses around their passions, if they put in enough time and effort.
